Albums

The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed the members of the group did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to lacking hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group, and the band held auditions for a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock band that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group consists of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams vocalist/guitarist. The band's diverse mix of influences has made them one of the most listened-to bands of all time. The band's music has been featured in more than 200 TV and movie shows, including The Godfather and The Prince of Egypt.

In 1983, the band released Toto IV, which earned the band worldwide praise. Following the success of the album, the band went on a tour around the world in support of the album. During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. At the end of the tour the band decided to let him go, and they hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams to take his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the group after the tour. Leland Sklar took over his place.

Its exhibits include toilets faucets, and tableware that have contributed to the expansion of the TOTO brand over the last half century. The museum hosts special exhibits all time of the year.

Toto has released a variety of music videos. The group has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the group is "Africa" which has more than a billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library with the band performing atop the stack of African books.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.

Toto embarked on a world tour following the release of their album. The group was comprised of touring musicians Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest. Warren Ham, Shem von Schröeck and Shem von Schroeck were also part of the group. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.

In 1985 the drummer Fergie Frederiksen left Toto due to personal reasons. Toto decided to hold an audition, and ultimately chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.

Before and during Toto's formation, its members worked as session musicians for a diverse range of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate were on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs, which led to Toto's formation. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto began working on a project titled Old Is New. This album featured three new tracks and several completed recordings of old songs. The album was a huge success across the globe and the band embarked on a world tour to promote the album.

Toto known for the hit song "Africa" Recently, the band came together to promote their latest album, All In. The album, which was released on the 6th of November, 2018 included three new tracks from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun as also completed recordings of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also featured an original cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band opted to include after hearing the song on the radio.
